CD Burner not recognized in Nero

Comment:
I just purchased a new Mitsumi CR-487ETE burner and installed it. I have it as my Secondary Master in D:, and my older burner as my Seconday Slave in E:. The computer recognizes both drives just fine. In Nero, version 5, it only recognizes my old burner and not the new one. I have no idea why it does this. The burner did not come with any drivers or other software. I downloaded one driver from the website, but that seems to do nothing. Please help.

Nero 5.0 may not recognize a newer drive as the firmware was probably not updated for it. This occurs frequently with older burner programs.

That should have read " the software was not updated to accomodate the new drive"

If your version of nero came shipped with your old burner it will not recognize any other drive. You may have to buy nero6 as I don't think the "Bundled" versions allow for updating.

'Bundled' versions only wotk with the drive they were shipped with. If you had the 'unlock serial' for your model, this would lift the restriction.
Nero 6 is out now and there might not be any updates for version 5, but I believe you can get them (and save them to CD-R for the future) from..... www.oldversion.com

No, Nero 5 didn't recognize the new burner, even after re-installation. I did install Nero 6 and it recognized the new drive. Problem solved. Thanks for the help guys.
