Comment:

I upgraded from Win 98 to XP Pro and at the time the auto play function was annoying and I disabled it. Is it not possible to re-enable it? I have made sure the Shell Hardware Detection is set to AUTO and set the CD-ROM/Properties/Auto Play to default… still no auto play. Any thoughts?

Try the reverse of this process.

To Disable CD autoplay, completely, in Windows XP Pro

1) Click Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC

2) Go to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System.

3) Locate the entry for Turn autoplay off and modify it as you desire.

Thanks Brian but I have tried all three settings on the "turn off cd auto play" for this template and still no auto play... any more suggestions?
