Hi everyone,

recently, I frequently got error occuring saying that Comment Client Network Proxy error and it has to be closed. After I clicked on OK, then I couldn't access Internet anymore, but I am still be able to ping the website address from the DOS Prompt screen.

Another problem is that if I click on the Windows Update to update Windows, the program ccproxy.exe (Comment Client Network Proxy) is also closed. Then I also couldn't access the internet. What's wrong and how can I fix this problem?

Note: My computer is running Windows XP Pro and also has Norton Internet Security 2005

Thank you so much

If you're not on a network and you don't use a proxy server to access the Internet, Open the Tools/Internet Options/ and click the Connections tab.

Now click on LAN Settings. Put a check in the Automatically Detect Settings, and Uncheck the Proxy box on the lower half of the screen.

It sounds like your DNS code is messed up and these steps should help.

If it doesn’t help, you may want to contact your ISP.

Thank you FJ. The problem is still the same even after I changed to the setting that you suggested.

GO to Start - Run - type MSCONFIG and OK.

On the Startup tab look for anything related to Comment "Client Network Proxy" and uncheck the box.

As a matter-of-fact you should turn off everything in this file that you do not need as soon as the computer starts.

Remember you can always turn these programs on when you need them.
