caught in a loop

March 7, 2010 at 08:55:18
Specs: Windows XP, 1.993 GHz / 766 MB
Upon startup, my sons computer will not load properly. As it startsup - it will load to a page with the option to boot in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt or an option to load last known configuration (start windows normally). 30 seconds to select and, it starts all over again, If I select start windows normally, it goes to load then - all comes back to the same page with the same options. Selecting safe mode, does the same thing - gets caught in a loop and goes back to the same page.
Any idea's to help please? many thanks...

Most likely the boot sector is corrupt, so you`re getting UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_DEVICE BSOD, but you are not able to see it. I have written a guide about getting rid of it.

mmm.....without the XP CD, you can`t do much. Better try to obtain the Windows XP CD, than going to the tech guy, and spending your hard earned money. However, you decide.

If you are so inclined, WinXP is available thru the torrents. Technically, this would not be illegal as long as you have a legal product key.

You will need a bittorrent clinet such as utorrent to be able to download the ISO, then a burning program such as ImgBurn to convert & burn the ISO to a CD.
