I just aquired a Cannon Camera. It came with a flash card reader. I went to down load some pics onto the computer and as soon as I touched the USB on the computer with the USB connector of the card reader the computer rebooted.

The only change I could see was when the computer was ready the clock went back to March 2003.

Do you think there might be a short in the computer USB?

Thank you for any help

Harry

Suggest go Start|Control Panel|System | Hardware | Device Manager | USB Controllers cl+
Any exclamation marks?
Have found that whilst card readers will work as a Mass Storage from a USB on the back of the computer the front USB may give device not recognised. The date change sounds like BIOS has been affected.

Thank you for your help. I took your advise and had a boo for those exclamation marks. None showing.

I think I will use the USB connections on the back. At least will try them.

Thanks again

Harry
