Hi,
Every time I attempt to view advanced system info in the Help & Support Center, I receive this msg: "Can't collect information. Access denied to Windows Management Instrumentation server on this computer. Have an administrator change your access permissions." I only created one account on this pc (administrator) and have the Guest account disabled. I have gotten nowhere perusing the Help & Support Center. Will someone please help me? Thanks.

Go to start>>run type services.msc
In the services window..scroll down to Windows Management Instrumentation and Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extensions and make sure they are both not disabled.
When you doubleclick them you are able to change the startup type status.
By default Windows Management Instrumentation is on automatic and Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extensions is on manual.
I will recommend setting them both on automatic first to see how thing go.
Goodluck

Windows Management Instrumentation is set to automatic, but Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extensions is not included in the list of services. I am running XP Home (OEM) and have never seen the WMI Driver Extensions service included in the list.
I also tried viewing the WMI Control Properties in Computer Management and got the following:
"Failed to initialize all required WMI classes.
Win32_Processor: WMI: Access denied
Win32_WMISetting: Succesful
Security information: Successful
Win32_OperatingSystem: WMI: Accesss denied."I really need to view the sys info because there are other issues that I would like to post here, but need more data before I do. Thanks for your help!

Rickie:
If the above fails to fix it.It may be time to rebuild WMI.
Right-click My Computer.
Click Manage.Double-click Services and Applications in the left-hand pane.
Click Services to expand it.Scroll to Windows Management Instrumentation in the right-hand pane and right-click it.
Click Stop.
Use Windows Explorer to delete all the files in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem\Repository folder.
Shutdown and restart your computer. The Windows Management Instrumentation service will then be rebuilt.
Goodluck.

Ok, I rebuilt WMI per your instructions, but nothing has changed. Since WMI is Microsoft's implementation of Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) and the Microsoft version uses DCOM as its backbone, and needs the win32 extensions (which I don't have), could installing such extensions fix this mess? Thanks AGAIN.
