|I have a HP PC purchasd in 2001. The system just crashed. I was able to recoverby using the eight CDs that came with the PC originally. I had problems finding Service pack 2, but realized that 1a would work, I was able to find Service Pack 3 as an ISO file and burnt it to a CD and was able to load it. When I checked the "My Computer" ion I found that the system was updated and had Service Pack 3 installed. Next I install Win Media Player 11 without a problem. Now the problem, the sysem still has IE6 I can''t upgrade it. I have tried downloading both IE 7 and 8 from sights on the web, Microsoft is no help, each time I try running either 7 or 8 I get an error screen telling me other programs are open and Explorer can't load.|
Any ideas? I do have a retail copy of XP with service packs 2 as part of the CD.
Is it possible to copy IE 7 from the retail copy of windows and then upgrade it to IE8?
I really don't want to get rid of an old "war horse" of an operating system if I have to.
My Linux system has some limitations.
So, any ideas.
