I installed the system specs app here at computing.net and its now listed in ADD/REMOVE apps in the control panel also in the start menu /programs and placed a short cut on my desktop ? I've tried unistalling via control panels add/remove programs also tried with a utility called CCleaner ,I keep recieveing "app not completly removed" ? When downloading it said it was being downloaded to a temp folder so I assumed it would be removed when clearing out temps ? Any help in removing this small app that gives little info on system specs and I would like to remove it ! Thank You to All
Nick

The one you download right here at computing, net, its listed as windows System Scanner in my program files and opens in Java ? When you go to your profile , it offers you the option of scanning for your system specs ,if you wish to do so it wil download the small app.
>> "Summary: Hey all, For all the windows users of Computing.Net, I have just rolled out a new system scanner. This will greatly help all users fill in the necessary system specs information when they post." www.computing.net/answers/windows-xp/new-system-scanner/173196.html

Thats info listed right below my reply as I type it to you ? Thanks fo your interest ,I look forward to more input ofn the details of this spec scanner !
Thanks Nick

OK, I just tried it to see what would happen. There's no icon on my desktop & nothing in Start > All Programs. I did a search using "Windows System Scanner" as my search term & it came up empty.

I opened CCleaner, Clicked "Tools" > Uninstall tab & it's listed as "Windows System Scanner" with a Java icon. I highlighted it, clicked the "Run Uninstaller" button, now it's gone from the list (it took a minute). I went back to the System Spec page & clicked "Re-Scan Now!" & it's prompting me to reinstall again so apparently it uninstalled properly for me.

I don't know what you did to get a desktop icon? Did you click SAVE instead of RUN?

Hi Jam ,
Thanks for your reply , I believe your assuption that I clicked on save opposed to run is correct I most likley did save this app instead of simply chosing run ! Iam curious if you can help with removing it anyway, even though its saved onto my hard drive ? I just upgraded my ver of CCleaner and have not tried the uninstalling of the Windows System Scanner yet, I wil give it a try again . Iam wondering if uninstalling becomes a problem when you chose save why it would even be a option ? If I need to run regedit and edit the registry Iam comfortable doing that with direction ? Anyway thanks for your input an bringing to my attension why Iam perhaps having a problem removing this app ! I moved it off my desktop to a folder I have in Documents & Settings ,for now thats where it sits !
Have a Good Day

Hi its Nick again , I opened my Java app and went thru the tabs ! I came accross a certificiate listed for Windows System Scanner and removed it manually ! I then opened CCleaner again and tried the remove in the tools section ,recieved a "unable to completly remove app" prompt from CCleaner ,and its still listed along with my other programs on the uninstall page in tools ! I then opened the control panel Add/Remove utility with same out come "unable to completley remove app" prompt ? Ouch this is starting to hurt . Odd thing is I really did not even need to install this small app ,I have the Bel-Arc avisor that gives much more info on a system by far the this Windows System Scanner ! I opened msconfig and do not see any listing there for this app thankfully . By doing a hard drive seach entering the name of this app and then deleting the results would that action remove this app from my system , I can run the CCleaner registry cleaner also to hopefully remove any listing in the registry ! CCleaner gives you the option of removing the app from the list on the uninstall page under tools heading however that only removes the uninstall option form CCleaner it does not remove vthe app from your hard drive ? Sorry for buggin ,any help appreciated !
Thank You Nick
