Comment:

I cannot turn on the firewall that came with SP2, because I can't start service
(windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ICS)). I get the following error:
Error 10047 an address incompatible with the requested protocol was used. I'm using XP/PRO.
Can anyone help me?

What have you tried?
Windows Firewall is in the Security bit in Control Panel, look for the Sheild icon.
Are you using a third party FW like Norton or Sygate?
Hope this helps
