hi I recently had some issues with my computer running slow so ran a register repair program " xp medic " which seemed to fix it however in my haste to get it runnin super great I accidently checked the "select all" box in the remove start up system processes and stopped them all . so now when i boot up i get windows xp with the dotted line then a blank screen with nothin , I tried starting in safe mode and all the options nothing seems to work I tried the recovery disc and tried everything but total reinstall as I want to get evrything off first. I then took my hard drive out and plugged it into another computer but I cant access my user data any ideas to bring it back would be much appreciated Matt
When you plugged the drive in the other system what was the error you received when trying to open the profile? Does your account have a password that you enter to boot to the desktop? With XP when opening an account that has a password you need to start in SAFE mode and take ownership of the directory. Follow procedures HERE.
