hey, i have not been able to shut down my computer normally (software) for some time now and i guess i'm finally trying to do something about it.
when i click shutdown it starts shutting down windows, then an 'end program' box appears that unsuccessfully ends "system query". after clicking 'end now' windows terminates and then the computer restarts!
what i've had to do instead is manually turn off the power switch on the back which i'm sure can't been good in the long run for my components. any insights onto this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Which program is it that you need to kill manually?? (you can see the name of the executable in the box that pops up). Try uninstalling that program and see what happens.

Usually by just holding the power on button for a few secs (till it powers down), the machine should shut down.
