Can't shut down w/ regedit.exe on

I cannot shut down my laptop anymore. I click on 'shut down' and there is the mousehourglass for a sec, but nothing happens. Regedit.exe is running in the task manager, and I can only shut down when I kill that process. Norton AV picks up nothing unusual. Please help!
