Cant send files with Msn Messenger.

I need help...
Why can't I send files with msn messenger with windows XP...
I'm not over a network and I don't have firewall installed... Windows XP is the only program installed on the computer...
Can u tell me step by step what to do to solve that problem...
I've heard It can be because of "windows xp" firewall or something like that...

Ok dude here we go, If you right click on Internet Explorer on your desk top (if not go to start then right click on Internet Explorer icon at the top) and go to "Properties" then "Connection" then "Settings" and "Advanced" and un tick the “Firewall” and say yes to the box that comes up, then restart your PC and see if it has worked.

I am experiencing the same problem, but based on the reply above, my 'settings' tab is not highlighted, since I am not using a dialup or virtual private network. I use cable modem connection.
On another note, (I dunno if this is related), but my ICQ does not allow file transfers or chat requests.... is this some network thingy?
