I have windows XP, and have Windows Messenger (MSN instant messenger) installed on it, i am using the internet thru a Internet Gateway. That computer has windows 98se and using ICS and Zone Alarm. Ok the problem is i can't send files or pictures from either computer in MSN IM and i turned off zone alarm as well to try it with no protection. I can recieve files thou. Has anyone come across this problem b4 and have a solution for it. Could u let me know thank you. Sub

Sub i have come across this problem in the past and read many forums to try and resolve the issue to no avail. I had no connection sharing and all related issues in msn knowledge never helped me one bit. I ended up hitting that well known place called format city and decided that this time i would not use zone alarm and opted for sygate. that was the only change i made to my softwear setup and 4 months later i am still able to send and receive files on messenger after adding my little registry tweeks here and there. Disabling zone alarm like you said makes no difference but i still point my finger at that firewall. Maybe you are using connection sharing and this is your problem? Good luck. regards...riz

Send and recieve are both possible in MSN Mess. as long as you modify your XP firewall settings to allow.

Same Problem. I cant send even so much as a voice chat request yet I can receive them. I've thought this may be an MSN problem so I tried using MIRC with the same results. I cant receive but not send. All firewalls have been disabled but they can still, theoretically, get in the way. I havent done a format yet but it may come to that.

i have had the same fiole sending problems on my system. I am on freeserve home time! I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS SENDING THEM TILL I INSTALLED ZONE ALARM. I also found big pc slow down problems caused by a sector of zone alarm listed as true vector in msconfig
