I am trying to activate Auto Windows Updates (from Control Panel\System). I click on the Auto Update tab but cannot check the 'Keep my computer up to date' box.
Anyone have any ideas on how to rectify this problem??
Thanking you in advance,Boxy

Check in services to see if the service has been stopped. If it has click on the update services entry and then click on start on the left side of the window.

Gday setishock,
Thanks for the reply but alas no luck, I checked the services menu and 'Auto Update' was already started. I tried stopping then restarting the service but still no luck. While continuing my quest to solve the problem I have found something else that is confusing me and may be of use to anyone trying to help me.I have gone to the Microsoft website and ran their "3 steps to protecting your pc". This involves running an automatic process to make sure Microsoft firewall is running and also makes sure that Automatic Updates is running. When this process has finished it tells me that firewall is running OK. The strange bit is that it then says that the Automatic Updates feature is being managed by my Network Administrator.I am not connected to a network, I am the only one who uses this computer. Is there some setting that I need to change to make my computer recognise that it is not part of a network?? I know that the Auto Updates feature is not critical to have and that I can get the updates manually, but it's the curiosity of not knowing why that is b ugging me more than the fact I cannot use the feature.
Cheers all
