Hi there, I have a HP deskjet 1220c Printer installed, whitch I can print without problem but when I access the toolbox it keep on telling me that my printer is either disconnect or turn off. It is the latest driver for XP. Also, even With that driver installed, windows keeps on detecting new hardware every time I boot. Well only if I remove the printer with xp driver from add/remove printer. Why does it keep installing itself twice and why do both of em show as unplugged when I wanna go to their properties ? Never had that problem whit 98 or ME. It suck cuz now I cant see my ink level ontil it's to late !!!!!!!
Thanks for any advise, Martin

WinXP by Default turns off USB Root Hubs to Conserve Power causing some devices not to resume correctly after Windows resumes from sleep, hibernation or computer inactivity
In the Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > USB Root Hub > Power Management, Uncheck the box that says "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" Uncheck all boxes on all root hubs.
Also make sure you have sp1 installed as it has the 2.0 usb filter drivers.Xp does not come with them.
And of course your chipset drivers should be up to date.
Good Luck

The HP Support and Driver website has several drivers for your printer. Did you download and install just the printer drivers, or did you also install the communication and other problem solving drivers for your 1220 printer? Make sure you disable your antivirus program when you install the drivers.

Thanks guys,,,,Robbie, I forgot to mention that Ì'm plugged via parallel cable !
Capt, I`ve got all the utilities driver, everything is there and up to date but it shows as unplugged,,,,,,,very confuse since I can print !!
