can't see dowload progress

when downloading a file from a website, I used to see a small window, showing the progress of the download (speed, MB downloaded, total MB, quite simple but useful)
Now this window never appears,... how can I restore it?

Open Internet Explorer then from the menubar, select tools>internet options. Once there, click on the advanced tab and under Browsing select notify when download completes checkbox. Click Apply button and then OK button.
