can't save or change Midi Mapper

I can't play any midi sounds, winamp plays MP3's and WMP plays all its associated files, but I can not play .mids or streaming radio from Music Match, it tells me "wave out not supported" I tried new soundcards, uninstalling drivers etc... the only thing I can't do is select any midi mapper, when I select one hit apply then ok. close that window then reopen that window my changes weren't saved. the default is nothing and I tried everything except reinstalling windows, which I really don't want to do. I do run all protection for anti-virus an spyware. so any help would be nice. I also can't get any audio on my internal DVD player. so
