Well last night my power went off while I was on the computer and when we got it
back on my computer worked fine. I don't know if that has anything to do with it
but it's just a bit of extra information just in case. I get on my computer tonight
for the first time since then and I can't get any programs to work.I'll double click on the icons and the desktop and the hourglass will show up for
about 10-20 seconds like it wants to open the program, but then it goes away and
nothing happens. I've tried clicking on the icons in my start menu as well as try
run but it won't work. I tried restarting my computer hoping it would fix the problem
but of course the computer won't restart, it does the hourglass thing, and then I
have to resort to shutting down improperly. After restarting a few times improperly
I tried running Mozilla's Firefox browser and it works. But that's it. That's the
only program that will work.I've already tried several suggested solutions like this
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555067
and I've also tried using a program by McAfee that was designed to get rid of the
Sircam virus and it didn't find anything. So at the moment I'm pretty much stuck, I would run anti virus programs but obviously
I can't. I also have the problem of only being able to use Firefox so any online
scanners thus far aren't compatible with the browser. Still can't open programs and
can't shut down my computer properlyI'm on a Dell with Windows XP and I have the latest security pack which hasn't caused
me a problem in the past 2 months so I don't know if that would be a factorIf anyone can offer any help it would be appreciated! I can only open all programs in safe mode. Here's a hijack log

Judging by your Hjack file, you may want to try http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and also Spybot S&D which you will probably find at majorgeeks.com
I'm new and I'm willing to learn and I'll give you advice when it's my turn
