Cant run games in full screen

OS: Windows XP Home
CPU/Ram: Athlon XP 2800+ w/ 512 MB

When I go to play any games they just minimize when started in full screen mode. When I try to maximize them to play a game they just minimize again. I have an Athlon XP 2800+ processor w/ barton core, 512 MB of PC2700 Ultra Ram, an ASUS 8X AGP Graphics card w/ a Radeon 9600 SE chipset, and a Biostar M7NCD Motherboard. If any one can help me out i'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

You could try lowering the screen resolution some in the game's settings to see if it stops the minimizing.

I've already tried lowering the Screen res, disabling directdraw and lowering graphics acceleration and none of it has worked. Thanks for ur input.
