I get this error whenever my Adobe Premiere 6 CD launches and the installer tries to start. I know it's compatible with Windows XP, but I don't understand why I'm getting this error. I tried changing the compatibility option to see if it'd run on a different setting... but it didn't.
Please help. :) Thanks

You know that kinda reminds me of a little thing I noticed when right-clicking on an executable file in Windows XP, you can change some sort of compatibility thing, I don't know exactly what its for though cause I haven't tried it out, but it sounds useful.
Anyways, sorry about not giving you an answer, I just thought that was interesting...

Hey, yea i get that error as well, when trying to install an older game, or sometimes, like you said, even software that is compatible with XP. What i've done is partition my drive to let the D drive be a FAT32 drive, and XP has no problems at all installing the software. This is a kinda... way to get "around" it... but i'm sure there is a better way/fix. I've just yet to find it myself either! Hope you find it soon!

oops, forgot to mention that i install off of the D drive, just in case you didn't understand that..... i can install TO the C drive if i'm installing off of the D drive :/
good luck again!

jessie had exactly the same problem installing premiere 6 on my machinetried many things but in the end using system restore to go back to the earliest restore point worked, (if that doesn't do it for you i don't know what will)
i don't know much about these things so anyone else feel free to comment BUT
as i understand it 16 bit programs are very old, often used in windows3.0?, most everything now is 32 bit? and certainly there should be no need to try and run premiere6 in windows 98 mode, anyway that 16 bit warning is kind of obscuring the real issue which is some kind of either software clash or an xp bug that shows up only occasionally...
i tried on the adobe forum and microsoft forums, (didn't even get close with microsoft) but couldn't find any mention of it
but if i ran into it and you did too there must be a few people around and either adobe or microdoft will have to take notice of it
erice
once i got it on the computer i still have problems downloading from my dv camera through either windows movie maker or premiere, i can control the camera with fast forward etc but not record
eventually found someone else with the same problem and they thought it was yet another xp bug...hope sp1 for xp gets out soon, hear it's being held up by the court action against microsoft, but then ms would say that...
