If you are running Xp pro click start then run and enter gpedit.msc

Next navigate to
User configuration>administrative templates>windows components>start menu and taskbar

Find "Remove drag-and-drop context menus on the start menu." and set it to disabled.

I am not positive this is the problem but it is worth a shot.

Hope this helps,
Sandman

P.S. If you are running Xp home let me know and I will post a regisry file that will do the same thing.

Forgot to add you may need to restart for the change to take place.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoChangeStartMenu"=dword:00000000

Paste the above into notepad and save it as fix.reg
Click the file you just made to import the info into the registry.

i tried it, and i got an error message saying: Cannot import C:\DOCUME~1\fix.reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files within the registry editor.

Make sure to include this line

"Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00"

If the file doesn't work (but does import) let me know. There are a couple different settings that could cause this.

I am having a little trouble finding the answer to your problem. When I find the other setting(s) I will post it.
