can't right click on any icons

Specs: Windows XP
I am using windows xp pro, with sp3. Every time i want to right click an icon or folder, whether it is in the desktop or my documents, the "hour glass" just freezes and cannot get the menu. Please help

Sounds like a third party program which lists its self on the menu, is messing up. Did you just install any thing like an anti-virus (which would add a scan to the menu) or compression program (which would add a zip to the menu)? If so try uninstalling it to see if it is the issue.

I've got antivirus & it was installed a long time ago. This problem has just come up now.

TimothyPerumalm, It may be a bad context menu handler. Follow the instructions under "Method 2 - Using ShellExView to determine the Context-menu causing the problem" at the link below.

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers.

You don't happen to have the "Folder Size" program on there do you?
That can cause all sorts of issues.
