Specs: Windows XP Pro

My dad recently got a "system Fix" fake anti virus thing. And i've tried for 2 days tryin to fix his computer nothing seems to work.

So we have been trying to reformat his computer. All i get is hit F1 to cont.. or F2 to enter set-up if i hit F it beeps then tells me to hit F! to reboot or hit f2 to enter setup.

We've tried different harddrive,Disk-drives,and OS disk.

I have no clue what else to do. It's a desktop computer

Formatting is the procedure to prepare a hard disk with a files system ready for the disk to receive Data. Formatting is done after the disk is partitioned but before any data is placed on the disk. Replacing the OS which is what I think you are trying to do is called installation which is done after formatting.

With Windows XP, portioning, formatting and installation is all done one after the other from the installation CD.

The F1 and F2 are for accessing the BIOS set-up. You will need to do this to ensure that the CD drive is the first boot device. If the keyboard is not responding to F2 then try a different key board. If this is a USB key board, temporary replace it with a PS2 key board. You need to be able to boot from the CD before you can do anything.

You need to set your BIOS to boot from the CDROM first. Usually the key to hit at startup is ALt but it differs from PC to PC. Once in the BIOS set the boot order to boot from the CDROM first. This link will help:
