Comment:

I have Windows XP home version. Previously when I wanted to send a picture using "explore-select file-send to-mail recipient" a box appeared giving me the option to "make all my pictures smaller". Suddenly this no longer appears and I go straight to email in outlook with a full sized jpeg. Does anyone know why? I can''t find any option/setting to reinstate this.

Thanks!

JPEG's are already compressed so you cannot "squeeze" them any more. If you pick a large JPEG, ZIP it with WINZIP you may get a little more but not enough to warrant the hassle. The easiest way to reduce JPEGS is to use something like Paint Shop Pro and resize it, keeping the ratio the same.

You can also use Paint -

Image - Stretch\Skew - alter the Vertical and Horizontal by the same Percentage

Save as jpeg and Name it differently if you want to keep the original

Actually the option is part of WINXP and is available to make JPEG/JPG smaller to e mail. go to Help And Support and type in E MAIL PICTURES, you will got the instructions on a different way to try.

If that still does not work try re-registering shimgvw.dll by typing this in the Run box. regsvr.32 shivgvw.dll If it still is not available type in the Run Box sfc /scannow.
