Can't reconfigure Linksys WRT54G router

Linksys Wrt54g wireless router

Specs: Windows XP
I am trying to reconfigure my Linksys router, so I visited, went to wireless settings, clicked "reset" (or something to that effect, can't remember accurately) and then my wireless network disappeared into thin air. On top of that, I cannot access, the connection times out. I tried pinging the IP address, nothing. I tried reconfiguring the router with the instructional CD that came with it, I can't connect to the internet through the router at all.

Look on the back of the router. Push the button in the small hole. You will probably have to straighten out a paper clip or some other small object to do this. This will reset your router back to factory specs. Start over with your configuration and be sure you know exactly what you are changing.

Were you accessing it via ethernet connection or wirelessly?
You have to use a cable during the configuration stage.

Chances are if you cannot access thr router in your web browser with Your router is toast. If it is several years old sometimes a reset will finish it off. Wasted a half day tryng to reconfigure a dead router.

When you clicked reset the router cleared all settings and went back to the way it came out of the box. this results in all wireless settings being cleared. Linksys routers usually do not broadcast a wireless SSID. In order to configure and connect you must use the cable and not a wireless to reconfigure the router.

Like what others suggested, you can reset router back to factory default setting by pressing reset button at the back of router for 30s-1m when it's powered on. After that connect computer to router to reconfigure router. If you need more help, can have a look on this wireless setup page.

Clicking the reset in the settings is the same as pushing the reset on the back.
