Can't recognize my DVD-Rom

OS: Winxp
CPU/Ram: PIII866 w/ 256mb Rambus

I have some prob on my dvd-rom, I put any disc on it, can't see my disc title & content in "My Computer->DVD-rom". I tried to remove the drive & IDE channel in "Device Manager". After I restart the pc it can recognize any disc but I turn off and start my OS the prob still occur.
At last, I replaced other dvd-rom drive the prob can't fix....

Pls help & thx a lot

I'm not this prob but I'll try

I can see my DVD-rom drive in "My Comouter" & "Device Manager" correctly but I can't access & explore any disc

try cleaning the dvd rom, otherwise the laser on the dvd-drive may be scratched??

My DVD prob has fixed. I found one strange application in Windows startup and it locked my dvd-rom....haha so strange!!!!
