OS: Win XP Home Edition
Programs: Nero 6.0 and Easy CD Creator
Burner: LG

When I burn a cd it says its burned fine (look on the cd and its burned) but when I try to read the cd it won't read. I've tried data and audio, tried reading with a pc and cd player. I have tried Nero 6.0 and Easy CD Creator Platinum v5.02b (updated) and the same thing happens. I have disabled the WinXP on board burning program and the IMAPI service. I have reinstalled my burner (wiped out the IDE first and reinstalled) I have put my burner on secondary master. I have plenty of room on my hard drive and lots of ram, I have made sure nothing is running when I burn. Tried to update with a patch from microsoft but it says my service pack is up to date.
Any suggestions

I'd try upgrading the firmware of the drive, and I'd check if the CD can be read in another PC. If the CD is OK I'd say the read laser is f---ed while the write laser is fine. Get a new CD writer, or a cheap CD-ROM for reading only.

Can you continue a multisession CD with Nero or does Windows think there's no CD in the drive?

Good luck

Hi Emily,

Download Isobuster program and you'll be able to read your CD. http://www.smart-projects.net/isobuster/
It's free.

Hope this will help,
Sipuli

I have tried upgrading the firmware and ISObuster, neither of these things work (in ISO I had created a data cd of jpegs and it read it as a audio file -1 track with 0 kb size). I'm not sure what to do next. I burned a music cd and the first two songs would read then nothing. I have a sepereate cd drive and have tried reading it on other pcs but they still don't work. Could it have to do with the buffer I notice it at 100% while its buring?
