Can't Print MapQuest Maps

I can print MapQuest maps when they accompany point-to-point driving directions - i.e., a route from A to B.
However, general maps - i.e., an area or neighborhood or city - will not print. It shows up on my screen but does not show up on print preview.
I have no idea why the system would distinguish between a map accompanying driving directions and one that does not.
My current printer is a Canon MP240. However, I encountered the same problem on a previous printer, a Canon PIXMA iP3000.
