I installed a dos based accounting program that I have used for years on a new Dell runnign windows xp. The program works beautifully except that it won't print. I get the message that the printer is not ready. This is the same printer that I used on the previous computer. It works fine with all the windows programs. It is attached to lpt1. I have also tried several other printers that I have used with this program successfully. It is like the program can't see lpt1. Can anyone help? This software is old and is no longer supported.

the printer will not work if you don't have the driver..... go to the manufactor web site and they should have the printer driver for dos. good luck.

Windows will not really print in DOS anyway. There is a special command you must enter in order to achieve what you want. I don't have the command off-hand (maybe someone else does?) but if you do a search in Google for something like xp print dos, you should find the command.
