When using my Radeon 8500's TV-Out feature, if I try to play any type of encoded movie (DIVX, MPEG, ect.) the movie does not appear on the TV screen as it does on the PC screen. The area in which the movie should appear shows up only as a purplish square area. However, a DVD or any unencoded video will play. Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

Update your Radeon with the latest drivers, Then download BSplayer http://www.divx-digest.com/software/bs_play.html also get the latest Divx codec, Xvid codec and FFDshow. There should be no problem with playing any video's through TV-out. And check your video-overlay settings under the Display options.

Make sure u set the TV as the default display (somewhere under advanced display settings). Then the movie will play on the TV but not show up on the computer screen. I know with my GF4 mx440 u can have it on both if u get the settings right but on my laptop (with a Rage M1 card) u can only have it on one at a time (although for some reason now the TV out on my laptop is only B&W and I dont know why).
