I have a compaq presario 1211CA (mobile athlon4 @ 1GHZ, 320MB RAM, 8MB ATi Mobility M1 AGP 2x). I have tried playing .avi's when there was only the operating system and the codec on the harddrive, and it crashed, with the IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO message and then I wasn't sure what the numbers at the bottem were referencing, since I didn't have time to write them down. It give the video card driver file in the blue screen as well. I have tried alternate drivers, in addition to the standard xp one, all with the same result. I've tried running msconfig and starting up with minimal prgms and still it freezes or crashes. Is this an novel problem? Or have other experienced it. I am prone to think that the symptoms show a hardware problem, but I've had some people tell me software, this problem has been driving me crazy for over 6 months now, if anyone could provide some new information to me, it would be appreciated. This question has been answer lots of times... Most likely cause is a bad/incompatiable driver....
