Here's a stumper. Small charter high school - about 40 computers. The teachers just got new laptops. XP SP2. I set up all laptops with 2 network printers installed. Had complaints from a couple of teachers that they could not print to one of the printers. I'm running static IP's on all computers and printers. I can ping and print to the printer from everywhere but those laptops. On the first one, I turned off the windows firewall, and viola, problem fixed. Second laptop, I do the same thing, problem NOT fixed - still cannot ping printer. I can ping other printer just fine, can ping any other machine on the network. I have flushed the DNS, I have looked at the hosts file, I have added an entry to the hosts file, I have completely reset all network connection settings with new static Ip's and still no ping on that printer. It's like something is blocking that one IP address. Any ideas?
thanks!
