I've checked, and read, everything in the "Site Search" but have not been able to correct my annoying problem. Which is unable to open and view SWF files. Always could untill I upgraded to IE 7.0. I've downloaded nad installed the ltest versions of Flash Player and Shockwave, still no cigar.
Open for suggestions. Thanks

flash doesn't work very well in IE7....one of the reasons I went back to version 6...

you can try this and see if it helps though.

download the uninstaller and uninstall all the flash programs that you have...then simply reinstall it. Sometimes the flash doesn't uninstall properly and will cause this isssue...I didn't know about it till after I reverted back so I don't know if it will help in IE7 or not..it does work in IE6 though.

please keep us posted

As Lurks says, you have to uninstall it and reinstall using this tool. Also stay away from regscrub. I discovered it deletes some SW registry entries.

You're not the only one with IE7 & SWF/PDF files problem. Some user (M$?) mentioned in this October 11, 2006 thread that A KB article is coming out shortly about this issue.

If you want to keep IE7, try the workaround provided in the same thread.

Thank you all for your replies and information. I did as Lurks suggested and downloaded the Adobe uninstaller as per per, a little humor there. Anyway, after I was able to open and view a file. However, I would be interested in a way in which to revert back to IE6, I think less problematic.
Thanks again.

Okay everyone thanks for the assistance. I'm back with IE6. Only thing is I still cannot view photo's, cartoons or diagrams that are included with some emails. I assume they are swf files, not sure. All I get as I scroll down is a blank square with a smaller square in the upper left corner. In that little square is blue & red icon of sorts. How do I correct this annoying problem?

You will have to go through the flash procedure again with IE6. Also see here.
