Cant open windows explorer

CPU/Ram: AMD athlon xp 2600+ / 512

hey
i seem to have a problem where i cant open windows explorer..

i can open Internet explorer fine, except when i try to open My Computer, My Documents, or anything like that Task Manager shows explorer take up all my cpu.. and then nothing happens

can anyone help me?

Try booting from the Windows XP CD and use the repair function to solve the problem.
Using repair in my experience doesn't normally delete any of your files.
