Being fairly illiterate on puters, this is kind of hard to explain, but....I got a new puter 2 weeks ago...BIG difference, IMO, between 98 and XP. On my 98, I ran Adaware and Spybot with no problems. I downloaded Adaware when I 1st got this. Last night I downloaded Spybot. This morning, I can't get Call wave or weather bug to open, nor can I get to my e-mail on a website. (OE works fine.) I have uninstalled Spy bot, dis-abled Norton firewall, restarted the puter...STILL can't open them. I uninstalled weather bug and Call Wave. I did a search for both of them and can't open either of their websites to re-install them.
TIA, if any of you's understand what I just said, and can head me in the right direction.

In fact, as I'm looking at this...there is a "The Page cannot be Displayed" just to the right of my 1st post. I don't know what is supposed to be displayed in that area, but...I can see the Software Showcase beneath it and the Data Recovery Software above it, it that helps anyone in coming up with an answer for me.

Hi RJN
XP has a built in firewall, that from SP2 also blocks outgoing messages, it is on by default. You can find it in the Control Panel. This can be what stops your Internet connections.HTH

The problem lies not with the spyware removal tools but the spyware they remove. Weatherbug won't run anymore because it has spyware built into it that Spyware removed. You can re-install Weatherbug and it will work again.
You should not have removed Spybot. It has the feature to undo what it removed. Removing Spybot deleted the go-back points. You will probably have to re-install all the software that isn't working anymore.

Try a system restore, and like was mentioned, both of those programs have spy and adware and when you used spybot you caused those progs not to work. I had some weird problems on my PC so I tried Hi-Jack This
Then I copied the results and pasted them into Hi-Jack This analyzerJust DON'T remove anything that you don't know what it is! If you have to, ask someone if you can post the log in here in case you don't understand it. It fixed my PC real well and it's running great once again.
If you need a simple solution, try mine. I try to give advise on things that have happened to my PC. Changes in registry can be FATAL! Glad to have a chance to help you.

OKAY! This is what I've done. Even tho on my task bar I had the Norton Firewall disabled, it was showing enabled when I opened it. (Don't ask what I opened 'cause I saw in 3 different places that it was enabled, even tho it showed dis-abled at the bottom of my screen.) I disabled it in every place I could find. I re-booted, which enabled it, but...before I connected to the internet, I disabled it. I downloaded both Call Wave and Weather Bug, and both are working. Hopefully, I'm "good to go", again. If not, I'll be back! LOL!
Thanks to you all!
