Specs: Windows XP
Hello guys. I am having a problem with my computer. After running for a while, say a couple of hours maybe, windows xp doesn't open new programs and I cannot see the processes running at that time because I cannot open task manager. Plus the computer doesn't turn off. I have to press the power button every time. I think its a virus that causes the problem but since I cannot see the names of the processes running at the time the problem happens I cannot tell which one it is. Help me please :(

Sounds more like overheating to me. Check and post your temperatures in the bios.

Actually I have noticed that the computer tends to overheat. Maybe mine is a stupid question but does overheating cause problems to the battery cuz the system doesnt recognize it anymore? And probably another stupid question. Can the overheat be caused by keeping the computer on a blanket?

Overheating can cause almost any problem that you can come up with.

I think running the laptop on a blanket is not a good idea. It can block the airflow through the box.
