Can't open link in Internet Explorer

I have a frustrating problem with Internet Explorer. When I attempt to open a link on some web pages I get an "error on page" message and of course the link does not work. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem and I have followed their 'workaround' concerning it re: Q281679. They indicate that at a command prompt, type: regsvr32 urlmon.dll. Then press enter. I have done this step but the problem persists. Is there any ie6 guru's out there who may be able to help me out. Thanks.
