Can't open EXE files

Help!,

I can't open EXE files. I was in folder options trying to add ResHacker as an option when I right click on a EXE file. I could not find EXE in the extensions list, so I clicked new and then it rendered all EXE files useless. Now when I try to run an EXE WinXp ask me what program I want to use to open the file.

start- run -regedit ok

hkkeyclassesroot-exefile-shell-open-command

make sure value is set to "%1" %*

that might not work as regedit is an exe-file...
if it doesn't work, first rename c:\windows\regedit.exe to regedit.com

then try the above

Have you deleted the new file extension you created.
