Can't Network in Safe Mode

My Dell Insprion 2500 notebook will not log in when I select Safe Mode with Networking. I am using a Wise Ethernet Adaptor (PCMCIA) and although I can get into the normal Safe mode, I can't use the network (as it doesn't install the network drivers). How should I go about logging into the Safe Mode with Networking? BTW I tried this with another adapter and no adapter, still the same problem.
