I am trying to make a (win xp home edition)system recovery set for my HP Pavilion a775c. I made a set which took up 9 CD's. I want to use the DVD option which only uses 2 DVD's, but I get the following error message: "A recovery set has already been created for this PC. You are not allowed to create another set."
Any suggestions? If I copy my 9 CD's to the 2 DVD's, will it function properly and restore my computer? Is there a way to reset the system to allow me to make my DVD copy in case of system failure?

Reading the link from XPUser indicates DVD media may not work anyway. Stick with what you have.

Having encountered many Compaq PC's over the years (although not too many recently) I came to hate them and now hearing that it needs 8 or 9 CD's to back up a system has done nothing to change my opinion !
And what bloody arrogance only allowing one backup set, just what do they think you're going to do with them ?
Long live TrueImage, Ghost and DriveImage.
Happy new year to all (including Compaq & HP owners) lol.

The 8 or 9 CD is the second line of defense, if you will. I also hate any machine that requires restore disks. In fairness to HP, this appears to be an improvement over the old method. If I understand this process a disk image is created on the CDs with, I assume the self installers necessary to restore the system. I would be nice to have all the disks instead but that would definately raise the price of these boxes. My biggest issue is that buyers aren't really aware of what they are getting until they have a problem or until they want to upgrade.
