Solved can't login to windows xp home ed. forgot username

September 7, 2012 at 12:48:02
Specs: Windows XP
I had never logged off before; I did after installing new software.
Instead of welcome screen with ma user name shown and only the password to enter,
the panel labeled "Log ON to Windows" asks for both user name AND password.

1) I don't remember what user name I had entered; guessed several times;

2) and now after several restarts & attempts, the cursor arrow won't move in response to my laptop's touchpad. (Acer Aspire one computer)

Thanks for any help!

Logon to the default & hidden Administrator account and create a new user account for yourself. To access the default Admimistrator account, read this:

If you assign a password to your new user account, type a password reminder or better still don't assign a password at all. There is no point assigning a password if you never log off.
