'A problem has prevented windows from accurately checking the status of the license for this computer. To proceed your copy of windows must be activated with Microsoft. Do you want to activate windows now?' Ok i have 2 options. If i hit 'yes' then the pc logs off so i log back on to see the message again. If i press 'no' exactly the same thing happens. I cant access anything else, no task manager or windows or nothing. Just my background wallpaper and that message. What am I meant to do???
PS by the way i tried running system restore in safe mode but it said that i can only run it if i turn it on in normal mode. the problem is i cant get into my programs and anything in normal mode because of that error, so what do i do?

I have seen this happen a lot of time. You can try these steps.
1. Boot to safe mode and rename wpa.dbl to wpa.old and make wpa.bak to wpa.dbl.
2. reboot the system once gain to safe mode
and type in the following command in the start\run command box one by one and hit enter
regsvr32 licwmi.dll
regsvr32 regwizc.dll
regsvr32 licdll.dll
and reboot the system in normal mode3. If none of these work the do a repair install by booting the computer with the CD.

Ok, how do i rename where do i have to go? where can i rename wpa.dbl to wpa.old and how do i get to the start/run command box remmember i cannot get to my desktop or anything.

You will find both wpa.dbl and wpa.bak in c:\windows. You need to do all the troubleshooting in safe mode only. To get into safe mode you need to tap the F8 key repeatedly while booting the computer
Good Luck ;)

oh, you see my problem is more complicated as i have another problem too. this problem came about from going into system configuration utility and disabling the servces and evrything. afterwards i enabled hem all in safe mode but the message still came up. i done this as my pc had a userinit logon aplication error, i couldnt get onto anything, and my task manager had an error too. so i cant get into the windows folder if thats what u mean.
