I would think that is more of a sign of internet based infection than a hardware issue. The two weeks appears regular. If it was a hardware issue it would be more frequent and random.

How are you connected to the internet? Router? Are you running a software firewall? Have uptodate antivirus, and spyware checkers like adaware and spybot running and updated?

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search

I would check for spyware and adware with
1-Spybot S&D make sure to update and also immunize http://www.majorgeeks.com/download....
2-Spyware Blaster http://majorgeeks.com/download2859....
3-Adaware SE http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5...
also try this online scan http://www.spywareinfo.com/xscan.php
and remove all it finds

I refer many downloads to the majorgeeks site because they are usually more up-dated than other sites.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results as it will help others.

If you have 2 stick of ram take one at a time out when it happens again to see if it will boot. For us people who don't have any diagnostic hardware it is always a process of elimination. If the ram thing gives no clues try unplugging all unnecessary hardware like cd dvd drives, pci cards and such to see if it will boot with just the bare essentials. I've had a hard drive go completely out on me after 4 months. I just woke up in the morning and it wouldn't spin up anymore. Some people have hard drives not work when they put them in brand new, age of a hard drive means almost nothing.
If I had to guess I would say that it is not spyware adware because that stuff usually slows your machine down or makes it do other weird stuff that you notice first before it would make it go from running good to "BAM" it won't boot up.
