Can't Load Desktop Backgrounds

A friend thought that it would be funny a while ago to sneak into my room and install a piece of software on my computer called "Logmein", which allowed him to access my computer remotely. He used it to mess up all my graphics settings. I quickly saw what he had done, uninstalled the software, and attempted to restore my graphics settings. However, I was able to restore everything but my desktop background. I can set a color, but it will absolutely not load a desktop image. I am thrown several errors, which seem to be random, each time. These include: Cannot Create File That Already Exists; and Not Enough Memory to Load Image. I'm yanking my hair out here. Even though it's just a cosmetic error, I don't like not knowing what's wrong with my PC. I myself am about to enter my senior year of college as a Computer Science major, so this is just embarrassing. I've done registry scans and checks out the wazoo, but maybe I'm missing something. Can someone please help me to restore my PC to its full beauty?
