I give up!! I have tried to install XP several times but everytime the install stops when it's 34 minutes left. I have tried to boot from the CD and format and then install but it's the same!! Can it be a conflict with my soundcard or anything else?? I know that it's nothing wrong with the XP CD.

If you have a Geforce-2 card you will need to use a different video card when you are installing WinXP.

The same thing is happening to me, also.
But it is reading that there is a fatal error and a bad program preventing it from loading. It does not say what program it is. Does anyone have any suggestions???

THanks,

Everything comes when despues to recognize the hardware you come itself to copy the archives in 22% approximately gives an error of not being able to copy the file devmgr.chm does not have left but remedy that to give escape to continue finishes copying them and reinitiates once reinitiated is come to the Windows installation and gives a fatal error in line 4: " E:\i386\asms\1000\msft\windows\gdiplus\gdiplus.man"imposible to continue the installation. I have watched the hardware in the Windows update and is compatible everything and I have everything what requires. Not that to do somebody it can help me?

I have the same problem. I tried both upgrading Win98 and formatting disk followed by new install. Each time after the computer first reboots itself I get the blue screen of death with the following message: "stop: c0000221 {bad image checksum} the image user32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum." I have just spent two days reinstalling Win98 and all my other software. Love Ya, Microsoft.

My XP installation hung on the blue screen at the message 'starting windows ...'. I spent hours trying to get aroung this and then fortuatously found a message somewhere out there. It seems some graphics cards ( ?NVidia's newer cards?) hang the setup proceure. Try using an old graphics card to setup, then switch back to your normal card later. XP setup a dream for me when I did this, and detected my newer card no problem when fully installed. Go figure! Shame I still have so many other problems with it now!!
