can't install XP as second soft

i have Duron 1000, 256-memory,40GB - HD,FAT 32, primary partiton C: of 5 GB, with W 98 on it, and the rest D: E: and F: are logical partition. i tried to install XP on extended partition and i can't because it can't read those partitions. my xp recognize only C: and when i try to insall on it, want to formate C:. what can i do.

You Cant do that. Youll have to re-fdisk everything and create 2 Primary ones or use something like System Commander. That works very well.

During installing you need to choose the advanced options, then select the partition. Standard option is for XP is to use the C drive, for any other case like other partition or in the same partition of Win98 (in a separate map) you have to use advanced options (If you have an OEM-version, after fill in the keynr.)
