i am trying to install windows onto an older drive of mine. once it gets into the windows installer and error come up and says: " this version of windows millennium edition cannot be installed on your computer. please obtain the correct version from your computer manufacturer" why cant i intall windows? i meet all the requirments. the only thing i can think of is the os disk came with a dell computer. i am not using a dell. any suggestions? thanks
The disks that dell sends out are usually specific for there own dell systems. they are not full OS on the disk but a recovery disk that looks into your bios and then sets the os up from there. the best way to get it to work is to get a full version(dont get a full version of ME though upgrade to a solid OS as 2000 or even xp)
