I hope someone can tell me why am unable to install Virtual PC 2007 on my Celeron XP Pro (Not SP2) PC.

I have tried installing Virtual PC 2007 32bit.exe more then once but fails.

The error I get is 'The application has failed to start because configuration is incorrect'

I dont know what configuration is wrong. I checked system requirements and believe it be no issues with system requirements.

I have tried saving .exe file at various locations and deleted it and tried installing again.

No matter what I do it still fails to run.

All I am trying to do is have more then one OS on my machine.

Please help?

You will need more than 256megs of ram to run Virtual PC 2007. I'm pretty sure you will need SP2 installed as well.

Go here and click on Product Specifications...

if all you desire is dual OS's why not dual boot? hopefully your experimenting with linux and that will easily run on 256mb ram. if your attemtping vista just give up now. my 1280mb of ram chokes on vista.

AMD Athlontm XP 2400+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.0GHz
Windows XP Pro/Corp 5.1, Build 2600 SP2
1280 mb of RAM
Nvidia GeForce FX 5200
1-40gb 1-120gbD

Greensystemsgo, you are right am trying with Server 2003 and may be Linux.

But unfortunately have just one partition.

So I had to think about Virtual PC.

An alternative is the free open source VirtualBox that acts even better than MS VirtualPC

Any way you need more memory, at least 512 MB, and I strongly suggest you update XP to SP2.

you can partition a drive with an OS already on it.

do not do it if loosing the ability to boot into XP would be a disaster.
