Can't install Sp3

November 16, 2009 at 17:16:35
Specs: Windows XP, XPS 400--2.80Ghz--
I had contacted Window Antivirus Pro some how and it took me a while to get rid of it,
Now finally Im clean but I cant install the Sp3 from Microsoft updates?

At the beginning of the boot up I get a message saying " Msoobe " Unknown software exception oxco6doo76 occurred in the Application @ 0x7c812a6b I click ok and it boots up (not sure if that has anything to do with it or not) but I still cant install Sp3 and at one time while downloading/installing SP3 I got an error message " The Procdure Entry point -GetRequestedRunTimeInfomation- could not be located in the Dynamic link Library mscoree.dll??

Can anyone help me with fixing this I've already ran about 5 different reg cleaner/fixers and nothing helps,
Sp3 downloads and installs up to about 80% then tells me an error occurred during installation and it will now reverse the download but never tells me what the error was or how to go about fixing it?
Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance!!
Bill

Since you've had a virus like that and you ran so many reg cleaners, who knows what is messed up now. I would suggest you do a Windows Repair if you have the XP cd.

Thanks guys I had forgot to mention I had runt Windows Recovery this is what has started the whole problem, after running the Recovery I had to install tons of updates and Sp3 just wont install, now Ive notice both my CD/DVD RW's dont work when I try to use them the computer freezes up and I have to manually reboot!
Besides the Sp3 problem and the CD/DVD bays not working everything else seems to be running fine, Im about at my wits end and dont really want to do a clean install I have tons of stuff I'd have to back up take foreve! oh well I guess I'll keep trying
I tried to install SP3 agian last night it went thru the complete download and started to install I thought is was going to finally work but after 85% of it installed it came up with the same Error, "An error occurred while installing Sp3 and it could not complete installation, click OK to reverse this procedure and restore your computer to it state before this update was installed!
So I click ok and it unistalls what it had done and Im right back to the same thing, guess I'll keep at it for a while!!
Should be able to just download these to fix this but I cant seem to find any place to do this IDK, MSCOREE.dll , GetRequestedRuntimeInformation
thanks,
Bill

Don't install SP3 from Windows Update. Download the entire file (316MB+), then install it. And it would be wise to backup the file for future use or slipstream it into your XP disc.
